Sindh Water Sector Improvement Project Phase – I (WSIP – I) is designed and being implemented to improve the efficiency and effectivenessm of irrigation water distrbution in three (3) AWBs. Total Cost of the Project is US$ 175 Million with World Bank share US$ 150.2 Million and GoS share US$ 24.8 Million.

World Bank Mission Visits Mehran University of Engineering & Technology for Future Prospects Karachi: The World Bank Mission led by Mr.Toru Konishi, Task Team Leader and Mr.Yoro Sidibe,Water& Technical specialist World Bank visited Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro on February 20th 2019. During the visit,Mission met professors led by Dr. Rasool Baksh Mahar who introduced different subjects related to water management, groundwater mapping and hydro informatics and briefed about US PaK center for advance studies in water. In addition to that the World Bank team also emphasized on the water contamination issues and discussed in detail regarding the solution of the problems. After that World Bank mission went to SIDA office and hold meeting with SIDA & Left Bank Canal Area Water Board officials at SIDA secretariat. Attended by Mr. Wali Muhammad Naich Managing Director SIDA, Mr. Jamal Mangan Project Director Sindh Water Sector Improvement, Mr. Saeed Ahmed Jagerani General Manager Transition, Mr. Jai Ram Bhatia General Manager Operation, Mr. Naem Ahmed Memon General Manager Finance & other officials from SIDA, Area Water Board & representative of Farmers Organizations of Bhan Minor. On that occasion Transition team gave presentation on Community Based Contracts, and Abiyana assessment & Collection & other issues were also discussed in details.After meeting the World Bank Mission went to visit 30thmile away cross regulator of Fulleli Canal. There PICs, Contractors and SIDA gave a briefing on the progress of cross regulators & other works carried out under Sindh Water Sector improvement Project at 30th mile by SIDA, after that mission returned back to Karachi. .
